Lepugnomus gerundensis

The Gnome of Girona refers to a case occured in September 1989 in Girona (Spain), in the road between Banyoles and Olot, where a strange animal was allegedly caught alive by local hikers, although it died within the following 24 hours.

The body was studied both by biologists as parapsychologists without reaching a clear conclusion, since opinions between them were quite opposite. Finally the creature was sent for analysis to the United States, where its tack was lost.

The case caught the attention of the media and aroused excitement and controversy, but today few remember it.
